Chimica, Silvateam ha acquisito la tedesca Wet-Green (Olivenleder)

Silvateam acquired the majority of German company Wet-Green, which developed the wet-green technology for Olivenleder, after having acquired the company from MB-Holding. The company headquartered in Mondovì (Cuneo), a leading enterprise in the manufacturing of vegetable-based tannins, announced its new alliance in the form of a strategic investment “to make sustainable innovation in the tanning industry”. As reads the official press release, the partnership “sends a clear sign to the industry: the future sits with sustainable and vegetable-origin solutions”.

Olivenleder’s leather claims to have brought a “radical change” to the leather tanning process thanks to a pre-tanning product made by olive trees’ di-extracts. This allows for the obtainment of a simil-nappa vegetable-tanned leather, “soft and easy to produce”. Olivenleder’s technology, “known for its 100% bio-based wet-green OBE tanning agent”, is obtained from byproducts of the olive cultivation process (leaves, branches, irrigation water), and it integrates with the bio-circular product range branded Ecotan (by Silvateam).

Ecotan and Olivenleder

The common goal of both tanning solutions is environmental sustainability. “The integrated use of Ecotan and Olivenleder will allow brands to strengthen their environmental stance using both labels”. Integrating the two realities will also fortify the market position and optimize costs during the production process. “Silvateam’s competencies in managing the supply chain and extracting vegetable tannings allow for the optimization of the entire manufacturing process of tanning agents produced by Olivenleder”, reads the official press release.
