In China, the parallel market is a scam: 60% of the luxury items sold by Daigou is fake

Association (CRGTA), declared that 60% of the luxury items sold to Chinese citizens by agents making purchases abroad turns out to be fake. These are known as “daigou”, people that buy products usually without paying much attention to product originality. These are professionals who commit travelling abroad to purchase items, especially luxury, for resale at home. By doing this, they also put in their pocket a good percentage of the total purchased as well as earning some extra money by taking advantage of the floating of the yuan exchange rate against the euro, dollar, yen or won. To avoid these real scams, Zhang suggests to those who intend to purchase items from abroad, to turn to trusted sellers instead, including through e-commerce.
