Lineapelle gears up: what to expect from 23 to 25 September

The first answer to the question “What will happen from 23 to 25 September?” is simple: the 106th edition of Lineapelle will take place. The second answer is more of a hope. In other words, given the “ongoing structural crisis that is reshaping the face of global manufacturing and its paradigms”, as stated by Lineapelle, there is hope that something positive will come of it. The third answer is the focus of this article: a great deal will happen. Fittingly, this edition draws inspiration from the image — naturally perfect — of a seashell, a metaphor for “synthesis.” Just as Lineapelle represents “a moment of perfect stylistic and production synthesis for the global fashion, luxury, and design supply chain”.

Exhibitors and trends

As of now, with two months to go until the booths open, around 1,150 exhibitors (tanneries, accessories and components, fabrics, and synthetics) from 36 countries are confirmed for Lineapelle 106. “They will present”, the official announcement states, “collections for the Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 season”. It will be a moment defined by the need to think outside the box, challenge long-held assumptions, and explore new forms of creative freedom — all shaped by a “philosophy of waiting” encapsulated in the concept Just Before.

What will happen from 23 to 25 September?

“In a time of profound change for the fashion industry, Lineapelle presents itself as a true laboratory of the future”. Artisan excellence will take centre stage in the rich programme of In The Making workshops, a project developed in collaboration with Giorgio Linea. Artificial Intelligence will also be featured prominently, with a dedicated hub for startups and machine learning projects applied to fashion and its supply chain. A Talk Area will host the updated programme Science Based Fashion Talks, organised in collaboration with SPIN360. This space will also feature sessions focused on pressing issues for the leather industry — such as the EU’s EUDR anti-deforestation regulation — as well as seminars exploring the latest consumer trends.

Exhibition synergies

There will be no scheduling overlap with Micam and Mipel, which will take place from Sunday 7 to Tuesday 9 September. However, Lineapelle 106 will feature notable exhibition synergies. The first is with Simac Tanning Tech — the leading event for machinery and technology for the footwear, leather goods, and tanning industries — which will be held in close coordination in terms of dates and location. The second is with Filo — the international B2B trade show dedicated to high-end yarns and fibres for weaving, knitwear, furnishings, and technical textiles — scheduled for 23 and 24 September 2025, also at Fiera Milano Rho.

Us, Pompeii, and Is It Leather?

The upcoming edition of Lineapelle will also host an exhibition based on the contents of the volume ‘The Tannery of Pompeii’. It tells the story of the world’s only known restoration project of an ancient tannery discovered within the Archaeological Park of Pompeii — a project funded by UNIC – Italian Tanneries and LINEAPELLE. The book was launched in April at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, on 10 July at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome, and on 15 July at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York. Also featured will be Is It Leather?, the international campaign launched in 2021 aimed at educating consumers on the difference between real leather and synthetic materials. Is It Leather? will be hosted within the editorial space of our publication.
