Lineapelle among the partners of Milan’s Black Carpet Awards

The date is set for 24 September at Teatro Manzoni in Milan, where the third edition of the Black Carpet Awards will take place. The event, which “gives voice to diversity, inclusion and talent”, is organised by AFA — the Afro Fashion Association. Presented on 25 June in Milan, the initiative counts Lineapelle among its active partners.

The Black Carpet Awards in Milan

Now in its third edition, the Black Carpet Awards will be held during Milan Women’s Fashion Week. It will feature a very special patron: Naomi Campbell, “a global fashion icon and long-standing activist for representation and equity”, as AFA explains in a statement. Over the years, the Black Carpet Awards have established themselves as a creative and cultural landmark. Each year, the initiative honours the Leaders of Change — individuals of all origins and backgrounds who stand out for their tangible commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and equity within the creative industries. A call to action has been launched by Michelle Francine Ngonmo, founder of AFA: “a collective commitment to rewriting history together”.

Lineapelle is present too

Lineapelle has answered the call by taking an active role in the project. Fulvia Bacchi, CEO of Lineapelle, will serve on the jury selecting this year’s winners. Meanwhile, the Lineapelle Designers Edition — the runway programme that has, for several editions, enriched the three-day Lineapelle event — will renew its collaboration with AFA, following its February hosting of a show by Paul Roger Tanonkou, founder of the brand ZENAM. This September, at the new Spazio Lineapelle venue in Milan (Piazza Tomasi di Lampedusa), the Designers Edition (25–27 September) will feature a show by Mastewal Alemu, the Ethiopian designer behind the eponymous label. And there’s more to come: Lineapelle is also planning an educational programme focused on the relationship between style and material, to be developed in Africa.
