Seat changes, with an Arnault joining Nike

Nike appointing Alexandre Arnault (LVMH) to its board is an unexpected move, but recent days have brought a wave of executive changes across luxury and sportswear. After Armani Group announced the appointment of designer Dario Vitale, other major roles have also changed hands, involving Kering, Hugo Boss, Jil Sander, Autry and Puma. The most anticipated switch (Kamali replacing Vaccarello at Saint Laurent) hasn’t yet been made official, but rumors are gaining momentum.

An Arnault joins Nike

Nike has a new board member: Alexandre Arnault, Bernard Arnault’s second son and currently deputy CEO of Moët Hennessy, LVMH’s wines and spirits division. Arnault is the first member of Nike’s board to come from the luxury sector. The sportswear giant isn’t exactly going through one of its best moments (quite the opposite). According to Vogue, “Arnault’s appointment represents Nike’s latest attempt to ensure it’s on the right path to bringing innovative, desirable and, above all, relevant products to market”.

Boss and Frasers

Pressure from the Frasers Group on Hugo Boss has now produced a first, significant change. The German group has appointed Michael Murray (son-in-law of Mike Ashley, who controls Frasers) as the new chairman of the Supervisory Board. In recent days, Retail Gazette reports, former chairman Stephan Sturm left Hugo Boss after “constructive discussions”. According to the German fashion entity, Murray’s appointment follows recent changes in its shareholder structure.

Jil Sander

Jil Sander, part of the OTB Group, has named Marco Viganò as its new CEO. The former global chief client officer and EMEA president of Moncler succeeds Ubaldo Minelli, the group’s CEO. As Borsa Italiana notes, Minelli had been serving as interim CEO since the end of July, following the departure of Serge Brunschwig.

Autry

Danilo Piarulli is leaving Golden Goose to lead Autry. For Style Capital, which controls the brand, the goal is to accelerate Autry’s international expansion, as Milano Finanza writes. The new CEO spent 13 years at Golden Goose, most recently as CCO and executive board member.

Kering

At Kering, Sophie Maddaloni has joined the Board of Directors. According to the group’s statement, Maddaloni will be responsible for Kering’s governance and for maintaining the highest compliance standards. She will oversee the legal, internal control, internal audit and security departments.

(leaving) Puma

Matthias Baeumer, who has been with Puma for almost 20 years, will step down as chief commercial officer at the end of September for “personal reasons”. According to WWD (Footwear News), he’ll remain with the company as a consultant and keep his role as Puma’s representative on Borussia Dortmund’s Supervisory Board.
