Focus on speed and innovation: New Balance to plan their new digitized factory in the USA, due to open in 18 months

They are about to open a new manufacturing plant, which is bound to advance footwear domestic production. New Balance are going to build it up in Methuen, near Boston, in the USA, where the brand is headquartered. The new factory, which will supposedly be ready in less than 18 months, will be fully digitized, “therefore including cutting-edge manufacturing processes, in addition to a few plants for 3D printing. This factory is going to bring to completion our manufacturing plant, based in Lawrence: more specifically, here we will carry out our advanced operations. We expect the plant to work at full speed in 12 to 18 months”, pointed out Amy Dow, public relations and government affairs manager at New Balance Athletics, while speaking to fibre2fashion.com web portal. Such are the aims of the new factory: more speed, agility and innovation. This is going to be New Balance’s sixth plant located in the United States of America: they also run some more in the Far East and one in the United Kingdom, which supplies Europe’s market. At present, New Balance are currently hiring over 8,000 employees; their overall turnover reaches 4,2 billion US dollars.
