France: terrorism alert lowers prompting tourists to return. Galeries Lafayette’s sales grow double-digit

Tourists come back to France. It is mainly because of them, representing 50% of customers, that Galeries Lafayette recorded a peak in sales in the first five months of 2017. Galerie LaFayette group has 57 department stores in the Essex and a turnover of 2 billion euros year. The growth trend is referred to as “double digits” and marks an improvement over the same period of 2016 when, in the wake of the Paris bombings and fear of terrorism, the department store had lost 15% of international customers and saw the Own turnover dropped by 6%. “We must always be cautious, but we think that this trend will continue even during the summer. We are optimistic, “says CEO Agnès Vigneron.
