Tempe improves work conditions for their 1,500 employees: salaries will increase by 10% in three years; on top of that, workers will be allowed to take voluntary leave and, if they do not grab the chance, they will get a compensation (their daily wages, which currently amount to 100 euros, will go up to 145 euros). The company, who manufactures shoes (they are also in charge of its global outsourcing) for Inditex group, has just signed a new contract, which will be valid until 2021, with the Spanish industry trade unions. While acting to fulfil the contractual terms, the company has committed to signing 70 to 100 permanent contracts. Founded in 1989, Tempe’s registered office is in Arteixo (La Coruña), but they are headquartered in Elche (Alicante). Tempe currently runs a logistics company in Alicante and has subsidiaries in Mexico, Sao Paulo (Brazil), Hong Kong and Shanghai (China). In 2016 they reached a top record turnover of 1,237.6 million euros (+10% compared to 2015), though profits dropped by 14% compared to the previous year. Still the company has not made public any details about 2017 business trend.
