Transparency applied to everyone: “Inditex should provide its suppliers” names

It’s not something applicable for luxury brands only: it’s to be applied to everyone. Press sources claim shareholders are pressuring Inditex to supply more information on its entire value chain. The Spanish fast-fashion giant (which controls Zara and Massimo Dutti, among others) currently only shares the number of suppliers and the country of origin. Yet, investors want to know more, starting with the names and geographical position of suppliers, so as to be reassured over their environmental and social impact.

Transparency applied to everyone

“One of the items we ask from Inditex, given our support, is to reveal the list of suppliers and their geographical locations – says to Reuters Dutch MN –. The Spanish group ensures to have the data available, but has yet to make it public, as some of the other players have done”. According to Euronews, Inditex’s reluctance is caused by its wish to protect its industrial secrets: it doesn’t want to provide details on its own supply chain to avoid competitors trying to disturb it. But the fashion market has changes and transparency is an obligation. Not just for luxury brands, but for everyone.
