A deal that “represents a strategic step in our growth path”. That’s how Alessandro Iliprandi, CEO of Bonaudo, describes the acquisition of Siva, a historic tanning company and a benchmark in the luxury design segment.
The acquisition of Siva
The acquisition of Siva, finalized on 11 September 2026, “marks Bonaudo’s entry into the world of luxury design ”, continues Iliprandi, who was elected president of UNIC – Italian Tanneries last June. Siva is also specialized in producing premium leathers for luxury car interiors and yachting”. Designed to ensure business continuity, the transaction provides for Siva’s ownership (representing the third generation of the Alberio family, which founded the company) to remain involved in both management and capital. For Bonaudo, the acquisition follows those of Cafra in 2019 and Conceria Conti in 2022.
The pinnacle of design
“This transaction”, Iliprandi explains, “reflects our desire to diversify into the luxury design, a segment where Italian creative and manufacturing excellence is recognized worldwide”. For Bonaudo, it marks another step toward “rounding out its production horizon, which, after becoming deeply rooted in the high end of footwear, leather goods and apparel, now aims to consolidate its position also in luxury design, yachting and luxury automotive”.
The excellence of the human factor
Bonaudo’s business project is clear, and the acquisition of Siva is a telling step in that direction. “Our focus”, Iliprandi concludes, “is to create excellence with an artisanal soul, but within an industrial production system. We’re firmly convinced that, given the level of quality our product requires, the human factor is fundamental and remains at the center of the project, even though it’s supported by the most advanced technology.
That’s why we’ve introduced digital tools and Artificial Intelligence across all our tanneries, fully automating certain phases, such as chemical product management and traceability through a digital passport for every single hide. In the end, however, technology remains a support factor for process efficiency. The one who improves the quality of this type of leather through skills and know-how is the human being”.
