Footwear goes up, leather goods are moving on: business is in ferment at Lineapelle93

Recovery is ahead of us, slightly though. That’s the feeling you get while wandering across Lineapelle93 aisles, walking around the stands of over 1,200 exhibitors. “A few good vibrations”, says Roberto Moroni from the Italian tannery based in Castelfranco di Sotto (Pisa), as he “emphasizes that footwear seems to be the recovery leader”. 2017 has been positive “from May onwards, throughout June, July, August and October”, point out at the stand of Beschin di Chiampo (Vicenza) tannery, where they “expect trend to be positive, as much as in 2016”. Likewise Flavio Fetta, from Claudia di Chiampo (Vicenza) tannery, “is confident and optimistic”, though he claims “a stronger support coming from politics”, taking into account that “many companies, let alone Veneto’s district, are facing tough times”. How about demand for products? “ After fabrics being on top for a while, leather is back” adds Moroni, whereas Simona Cecere, from Carisma di Solofra (Avellino) tannery says that “leather goods, as well as high end apparel, are much rewarding” despite the fact that “the current market is floating, and past volumes and deliveries are not so frequent any longer”. “For ages we have been working on split leather, up to top quality, though lately grain price is making the difference” adds Fetta, who is confident that “in the next future split leather will be back again, still for the time being it’s most important to have the ability to branch out manufacturing. We are striving for that”.
