It is signed: renewal of the Tanning Labour Agreement

The signature arrived on Thursday 7 March 2024, in Milan. On one side UNIC – Italian Tanneries. On the other, the trade union representatives of the sector: FILCTEM CGIL, FEMCA CISL, UILTEC UIL. Subject: the hypothesis of an agreement for the renewal of the National Collective Labour Agreement for workers in tanning companies which expired on 30 June last year. In other words, the negotiations are concluded and the new CCNL will remain in force until 30 June 2026.

“An intense negotiation”, UNIC explained in a note, “in which the parties shared, overcoming some differences, a commitment to dialogue and constructive confrontation”. This was a rightful act, given the objective of “addressing in a cohesive manner the difficult economic situation in which tanneries and workers operate. The renewal does not only provide solutions to guarantee minimum economic standards for workers. It also promotes social responsibility in the workplace through various improvements”.

Tanning Labour Agreement Renewed

Here are all the novelties of the new CCNL for the tanning sector.

The total pay increase will be EUR 191 (level D2) and will be paid in the pay roll through 3 tranches. The first, dated 1 March 2024, provides for an adjustment of 96 euros. The second (1 January 2025) will be EUR 55, while the last (1 January 2026) will be EUR 40.

– There are novelties in the area of flexibility, through the introduction of contractual reasons for exceeding 12 months in fixed-term contracts and in the area of part-time work.

Contractual welfare: as of 2026, there is an increase in the monthly contribution for the supplementary health insurance Sanimoda from EUR 12 to EUR 15. An additional EUR 2 is added for insurance coverage for non-self-sufficiency.

– For victims of gender-based violence, an additional month of paid leave at the company’s expense is envisaged over and above what is provided for by law.

– The legal provisions on agile work, marrow donation leave, parental leave, reasonable accommodations, and trade union eligibility for RLS (Workers’ Safety Representatives) are transposed.

– On the subject of rights, the discipline of extended leave is introduced with the extension of job preservation in the case of serious illness.
