A bridge to Indonesia: UITIC unveils the theme of its 2027 edition

The first preview of the 2027 edition of UITIC emerged at the beginning of the summer: the host country will be Indonesia. We now also know the theme, as Simac Tanning Tech provided the opportunity to unveil the title of the next conference of the International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians. “Engineering the future of the footwear industry”, announced Sergio Dulio, president of UITIC (pictured right). “From artificial intelligence, the theme of the 2025 edition in Shanghai, we are moving on to intelligent design. This conference will be a forum for discussion and an opportunity to stay up to date on the techniques needed to address the challenges of change”.

The bridge with Indonesia

This 2027 edition of UITIC will be held from 2 to 4 August in Jakarta, organised by Krista Exhibitions Group together with APRISINDO (the Indonesian footwear industry association). The final day of the congress will coincide with the first of the three days of the ILF (footwear) and IGT (apparel) trade fairs. This is no coincidence: the same Krista Exhibitions is organising the events and aims, following company visits and the UITIC congress, to create points of contact between the Italian and Indonesian industries.

“The Asian market is undergoing significant change and is increasingly interested in Italian know-how”, comments Daud Salim, CEO of Krista (pictured, second from left). “We can combine Italian technology with the potential of Indonesia’s human capital”. “Footwear accounts for the largest share of the country’s exports”, concludes Seno Pratomo, head of the Milan office of the Indonesian trade promotion agency ITPC (far left). “Italy is an established player, and there are opportunities for strategic connections in the areas of automation, efficiency and sustainability”.
