Tanning industry goes up. Good performance for accessories and components. Fabrics and substitutes slow down. 2017 first term at Lineapelle

Italian tanning industry goes up. In the first six months of 2017 manufacturing has increased by 2,7% in terms of volumes and by 0,2% with regard to value. In the same period the overall overseas turnover, as for leather being tanned in Italy, has increased by 0,8%; volumes have gone up as well (+12,3%). As for business markets, China goes up (+10%), following a difficult two-year period; likewise, good performances for the USA (+8%), Vietnam (+11%) and the UK (+14%). Conversely European markets slow down. According to Lineapelle’s Economic Report, in the first half of the year Italian districts (namely Veneto, Tuscany, Campania and Lombardy) keep going at different speeds. Fabrics, synthetics and substitute materials go up in Europe in the same year (+2%), yet unfortunately Italian manufacturing decreases (-6%). As for segments, synthetics stand out (+6% on the average). Meanwhile accessories and components grow in Europe (+8%): good news for Italy (+6%), together with Spain(+7%), not for the UK though (-4%).
