US Skechers sport footwear aim at the world as sales speed up in the quarter. Focus on international export now

Skechers go up again and break their own record. Sport and casual footwear US giant announced their accomplishments achieved in 2018 first quarter: sales increased by 16,5%, thus reaching record breaking figures in terms of revenues (1,25 billion dollars, that is, 1,025 billion euros); likewise profits grew remarkably, +25%, thus amounting to 118 million dollars (around 97 million euros). Such performance has been driven by the wholesale business expansion and, most of all, by retail store sales, especially in the overseas markets, which went up considerably (+17,6%). Export is currently worth 54% of overall sales. “We consider international markets to be the most important playground for our business expansion”, pointed out David Weinberg, chief executive officer of Skechers, while emphasizing the quarterly record number of deliveries, in terms of volumes, in the company’s European distribution hub. Founded in 1992 by Robert Greenberg and his son, Skechers have become, over the years, a worldwide top brand: they design, manufacture and supply a wide range of casual, sport and trendy shoes. Just for the records, around 3,000 models per season, for men, women and kids.
