Ann Demeulemeester is for sale and could be bought by an Italian

First the news regarding the break-up between the brand and its creative director, Sébastien Meunier. Then we found out that Ann Demeulemeester is for sale. The Belgian brand could even become Italian: according to certain news sources it could be Antonioli, an Italy-based retailer. Negotiations are allegedly coming to an end and a deal should be struck in the coming weeks.

Ann Demeulemeester is for sale

Exciting days in Anversa, where the brand is located. Just a few days we found out that Mr. Meunier had decided to leave the company after 8 years as Ann Demeulemeester’s creative director. The designer had taken over the role in 2013, succeeding the brand’s founder. As of today, it appears that the departure may be linked to the sale of the brands.

Antonioli reaches out

As reported by WWD, Antonioli is negotiating the purchase of the Belgian fashion brand. Claudio Antonioli, who founded the company in 1987, confirms the rumors, adding that an agreement is yet to be reached but could materialize before summer’s end. Not much has been said regarding the creative role. Antonioli is the owner of a 700 square-meters boutique in Milan and other stores in Turin, Ibiza and Lugano. Mr. Claudio Antonioli is also the founder of streetwear conglomerate New Guards Group, recently acquired by Farfetch.
