Meryll Rogge to succeed Risso at Marni: the only woman at OTB

Meryll Rogge has been appointed as the new creative director at Marni. The Belgian designer steps into the role as part of OTB Group’s ongoing creative reshuffle. Renzo Rosso, founder and president of OTB (the parent company of Marni), has explained the reasons behind her appointment.

Meryll Rogge joins Marni

Following Francesco Risso’s ten-year tenure as creative director at Marni, rumours initially suggested Ellen Hodakova as the frontrunner. However, recent whispers pointed to Meryll Rogge — and her appointment was subsequently confirmed by OTB. As NSS Magazine highlighted, the news comes just two weeks after Rogge won the prestigious 2025 ANDAM Prize. Rogge brings with her extensive experience, having worked for several years at Marc Jacobs and Dries Van Noten before launching her own eponymous label in 2021. Since then, the Belgian designer has received critical acclaim for her work, known for its strong emphasis on sustainability and craftsmanship, expressed through techniques such as deconstruction and upcycling.

Why her?

Speaking to Vogue Italia, Renzo Rosso explained why Rogge was chosen: “We interviewed many highly qualified candidates. Meryll stood out for her sensitivity in reinterpreting the brand’s DNA, offering a contemporary vision that embraces Marni on a global level and across all its dimensions — including accessories, interior design, communications, and special projects”. Rogge’s appointment is the latest in a series of creative shake-ups at OTB. This past March, the group named Simone Bellotti as creative director of Jil Sander and confirmed Glenn Martens at the helm of both Maison Margiela and Diesel. Rogge now steps into the role vacated by Risso at Marni.
