Chanel made a series of under-the-radar acquisition of French suppliers in 2024

Chanel, often keen to highlight its ties to Italian craftsmanship, has quietly carried out a string of small-scale acquisitions of French suppliers—small workshops and manufacturing firms. As Glitz.Paris reports, the brand acted with a certain discretion (a common practice among luxury players), opting not to use its name directly but instead making purchases through affiliated companies.

A series of under-the-radar acquisition of French suppliers

According to Glitz.Paris, Chanel in 2024 acquired Confection de Sully, a haute couture atelier in the Loiret region, south of Paris. It then took over PR3, which produces suits and “sleeved garments” in Dun-le-Poëlier, and Domicia Production, a firm specialising in small-batch manufacturing in the Loire Valley. The fashion house also showed interest in Marque & Mod, a women’s clothing workshop located in Eyraud-Crempse-Maurens. Also in 2024, Chanel acquired Maroquinerie de Champagne in Romilly-sur-Seine, a company that produces handbags and leather accessories. These acquisitions were made via property investment vehicles (known in France as Sociétés Civiles Immobilières, or SCIs), which are in turn connected to Paraffection, Chanel’s subsidiary dedicated to preserving artisanal know-how. The acquisitions are overseen by Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion at Chanel, and Jacques Chenain, head of fashion manufacturing.

Sometimes longstanding suppliers

At the end of last year, the maison quietly took over three more French suppliers: leather goods workshop Borlis, and the haute couture ateliers Atelier H and Haspolo, located near the city of Cholet. These sites have been part of Chanel’s supply chain for over 20 years. The three were acquired last November from the clothing and accessories manufacturer AAIMS-Borlis.
