12 artists for 12 bags: the sixth edition of Dior Lady Art

The pre-launch sale began on December 2. We are talking about the 12 new Lady Dior bags created by 12 artists involved by the French brand for the sixth edition of the Dior Lady Art project. They come from all over the world, and are called to reinvent the iconic bag, each according to their own style and culture of origin. The collection is a mosaic of cosmopolitan influences that gives a new identity to the French brand’s it bag, while maintaining its original charm.

History of a bag

According to reconstructions, Dior designed the bag in 1994 and named it Chouchou. The following year, George Chirac‘s wife decided to gift it to Lady Diana. Legend has it that the atelier took only one night to make it. Lady D fell in love in love with it, and in 1996 the bag was named Lady Dior in her honour.

This year, Dior brought in 12 international artists to transform the cult object into a work of art. In order: Manal Aldowayan, Gisela Colòn, Johan Creten, Gigisue, Genieve Figgis, Antonin Hako (in the photo, from nuvomagazine.com, his project), Zhang Huan, Leonhard Hurzlmeier, Yukimasa Ida, Daisuke Ohba, Li Songsong and Lina Iris Viktor. Each piece is completed with Dior charms inspired by the talismans worn by Monsieur Dior.
