Victoria Beckham enters leather goods (and relies on Italy)

Since, with mixed fortunes, she has been active in fashion with her own brand, she has already designed accessories such as clutches and crossbodies for her looks. But now, she is permanently introducing bags in her collections to push the brand’s growth path. Victoria Beckham has unveiled the first leather goods collection of the brand that bears her name. A collection in which, as the designer and former pop star explains to WWD, lambskins and calfskins from Italy and Spain are used.

A step forward

“The launch of the leather goods is a really important step for the brand,” Victoria Beckham tells WWD. “We felt our debut in Paris was the right occasion”. It is well known how the handbag has become a key accessory in the designer look, as well as a balance sheet item to say the least. This is why the entry of the Beckham brand into the leather goods category “is the next step in our strategic vision,” continues the designer. “We have established the right positioning for fashion, it is now time to develop a corresponding handbag business”. The items will be presented, we said, during the next Paris Fashion Week, but are already being distributed. “When I work on ready-to-wear, I am very attentive to detail and often design with myself in mind,” she concludes. “I wanted to apply the same approach to leather goods”.
