After five years, Coca is no longer Vuitton’s accessories designer

Johnny Coca is no longer the designer responsible for accessories and leather goods at Louis Vuitton. Coca is undoubtedly one of the world’s leading specialists in handbag design. He had been at LVMH’s flagship brand for five and a half years. His future direction remains unknown.

Coca steps down from his role as accessories designer

Since 2020, Johnny Coca has served as creative director of women’s leather goods and fashion accessories at Louis Vuitton. He was part of the leather goods creative team led by Nicolas Ghesquière, the house’s artistic director for womenswear since 2013. Upon joining Vuitton, Coca focused on high-end handbags and showpieces. News of his departure from the French label was reported by WWD.

Coca “brought his expertise and creativity to the collections and successfully launched the Louis Vuitton Accessories Design Graduates Initiative”, the French house commented. For his part, the Spanish-born designer thanked LVMH. “Now is the time to continue on my own path with the same passion and commitment”, Coca remarked. He did not reveal his next move. The designer began his career at Louis Vuitton, later joining Céline alongside Phoebe Philo, and subsequently served for five years as creative director of Mulberry before moving to Vuitton. It will be interesting to see what his next appointment will be.
