Louboutin crowns the Sneakers: “I didn’t think they would be liked this much”. The constant growth of Diadora confirms the increasing interest

Christian Louboutin (in the picture) admits the power of his sneakers, which are becoming increasingly popular and allowing the rebirth of some Italian shoe factories, among others. “I started making sneakers thinking they would be liked by a small percentage of people. In reality, the appreciation for them is much higher than anticipated”, These are the words of the designer, famous for his red soles, in a recent interview. At Pitti Uomo, in Florence, Louboutin said sneakers are the ideal product if one wants to express his/her creativity. Sarah Jessica Parker, alias Carrie Bradshaw, big fan of the stylist’s high heels shoes, started production of sneakers, that decades ago were only being produced by large sporting brands. Now, even some of the most classic and formal brands, such as Sutor Mantellassi and Brunello Cucinelli, are producing sneakers. Such brands will be competing with younger, but already established brands on the sneakers field, such as Golden Goose. But other brands have shown the possibilities, such as Ruco Line, Finest Shoes (with their Atlantic Stars), Master of Arts, D.a.t.e., Alberto Guardiani, Hide& Jack. Diadora, maker of very sporty shoes, has had, in 2016, a revenue of 152 million Euros, (+18.4% in comparison to 2015), and has started on a reshoring production plan, which right now is 5% of the entire production, with the objective of doubling that number by producing internally and entrusting contractors.
