Production grows, but Australian meat prices fall

For the Australian meat industry, the prospect is to close 2017, despite the downward revision of rainfall estimates, with production up 2% and export share of 2016 (just over 1 million) Tonnes. Unfortunately, volume increases do not follow values. Canberra, reports a report by MLA (Meat & Livestock Australia), suffers from downward pressure on prices. On this issue, Ben Thomas (MLA Market Information) comments on leatherbiz.com: “It is to be assumed that these trends will continue throughout 2017 and will have a significant impact on productions and prices.”
