Production grows, but Australian meat prices fall

For the Australian meat industry, the prospect is to close 2017, despite the downward revision of rainfall estimates, with production up 2% and export share of 2016 (just over 1 million) Tonnes. Unfortunately, volume increases do not follow values. Canberra, reports a report by MLA (Meat & Livestock Australia), suffers from downward pressure on prices. On this issue, Ben Thomas (MLA Market Information) comments on “It is to be assumed that these trends will continue throughout 2017 and will have a significant impact on productions and prices.”
