Tokyo, mission accomplished: UNIC and Lineapelle at Bunka University

UNIC – Italian Tanneries and Lineapelle concluded their Japanese mission with a final stop at a university. Mission accomplished, as following the strong interest sparked at Expo 2025 Osaka, a similarly warm reception awaited them in the lecture halls (pictured) of Bunka Gakuen University.

Mission accomplished

Bunka Gakuen University is a private institution located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, renowned for its excellence in fashion and creative arts education. This was the setting for the final stage of the promotional and communication initiative that UNIC and Lineapelle brought to Japan last week. Two days of activities held at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka recorded a full house, marked by high levels of interest and enthusiasm. The Tokyo leg of the mission, though in a different setting, achieved the same outcome — with students (and more) from Bunka Gakuen University taking part.

Japanese and Chinese students, lecturers, and university managers made up the audience for the workshops led by Orietta Pelizzari, Lineapelle’s International Fashion & Lifestyle Advisor. The participants were diverse, yet equally attentive and engaged. Topics of discussion included the historical and cultural significance of circularity in the tanning industry, an area in which Italy stands as a global exemplar.

The sessions began with an interactive quiz that immediately captured the students’ attention, paving the way for in-depth exploration of leather and the industry behind it. As in Osaka, there were discussions on colour and history (including a presentation on the restoration of a tannery discovered in Pompeii), quality and supply chains, and the inherent value of the material through its durability. The result? A resounding success. Mission accomplished.
