Argentina and Brazil await a positive 2018: according to USDA, fair winds for red Meat

USDA (United Stated Department of Agriculture), shows the data regarding 2018, and foresees a good year for two large producers of red meat: Brazil and Argentina. Let’s start with the first one, that has recently negotiated lighter terms with the Unites States, regarding the quantity of animal proteins it could export to the latter. According to USDA’s data, Brazil’s meat exports will grow by 2.5% in 2018, mostly thanks to the bovine segment (+6%). In addition, with a higher 2018 production (outlook is 9.7 million metric tons, +2%), 1.9 million metric tons of meat will be shipped abroad from Brazil’s ports. Brazilian livestock industry will benefit from the recovery of the domestic and from new commercial routes created by its government. Moreover, always according to USDA’s previsions, Argentina also has a positive future. The institution says that the final result for red meat exports in 2017 will be over the forecasted 70.000 tons. The number represents the best performance since 2009. If the trend remains in the same direction for 2018, Argentina would surpass Mexico in export volumes, and go back to the world’s top 10 (countries exporting meat).
