It’s time to head to Brussels. On Tuesday, 3rd June, Cotance and UNIC – Italian Tanneries are hosting a workshop titled “EUDR: Is Leather a Driver of Deforestation? – Let’s Bring the Facts to the European Parliament”. This is an important and meaningful event to reaffirm — backed by data — how and why the tanning industry is not a cause of deforestation.
Everyone to the European Parliament
The initiative, as reported by UNIC, will take place from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. and is “promoted by MEP Salvatore De Meo (EPP, Italy) in collaboration with representatives of the European leather industry”. The discussion will focus on “the findings of the study conducted by the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (University of Pisa), which analysed the impact of the EUDR on the European leather supply chain from economic, social, and environmental perspectives”. It’s an interdisciplinary study, the results of which we previously reported on in an interview with one of the authors, Luca Marrucci from the Institute of Management at the Tuscan university.
