More changes are underway at Cascale. The former Sustainable Apparel Coalition is saying goodbye to its current (or rather, soon-to-be former) CEO, Colin Browne, who will step down from his role on 31 July 2025 — just one year after his appointment. According to the organisation, the decision to part ways was a personal one.
More changes at Cascale
In late February 2024, the Sustainable Apparel Coalition rebranded itself as Cascale — a move intended to distance the group from the greenwashing controversy that had surrounded its sustainability platforms (notably the Higg Index), and to signal its ambition to expand beyond the fashion industry. In May of that same year, Cascale appointed Browne (pictured here via LinkedIn) as CEO to lead the organisation into a new chapter. But little more than a year later, Browne — previously at Under Armour — has announced his resignation. This marks yet another transition for Cascale, a sustainability-focused industry group that has now launched a search for his successor.
Searching for the next leader
“This is not a reset, but we will be seeking continuity”, Tamar Hoek, Chair of Cascale’s Board of Directors, told Fashion United, explaining what the organisation is looking for in its next CEO. “Strong organisations grow through change. Cascale remains committed to generating measurable impact across the value chain, and we look to the future with confidence”. Under Browne’s leadership, Cascale began a repositioning effort, which included updating the Higg Index — intended as a tool for measuring environmental impact across the value chain.
