On top of trends and style, today at Lineapelle93 focus on Italian tanning sustainability

At Lineapelle93 the spotlight is on sustainability. This morning many people took part in the meeting at the fair, set up by UNIC to present the Annual Report on Sustainability of  Italian tanning industry, on its fifteenth edition, along with the project Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC), the international platform that gathers companies, professionals and specialists, aiming to reduce hazardous chemicals in textile and footwear industry, and finally remove them, by 2020, through a specific roadmap. UNIC report pictures the commitment undertaken by Italian companies, on behalf of this issue, and emphasizes seven valuable actions. Looking at the report, we can clearly see that tanneries have been increasingly investing in that: in 2002 corporate budget was 1,9% out of the turnover, in 2016 it’s gone up to 4,4%. As for assets, 63,1% of them have been invested in liquid waste cleaning, whereas 19,3% in waste treatment. In the same period companies succeeded in saving water (20%), 95% of which goes back to environment after being used in tanneries, and energy (32,3%).
