Something good for the Italian tanning in the first trimester of 2017

Some good news for Italian tanning. Data for the first quarter 2017, available online at, according to Lineapelle’s Economic Service, are “more satisfactory than expected”. At the same time, there is “cautious optimism” for the second quarter results. While the “automotive” sector confirms a lively area and leather goods give signs of recovery, the luxury segment continues to “hiccup”. The best performance is the average-sized bovine hides, which is up by + 5% on an annual basis. Small beef skins are down 5% over the same period of 2016. Sheepskin A slight downturn was also registered for sheepskin (-1%), penalised by the goat’s slowdown (-7%).
