Tunisia 2018: industrial investments go up by 4%. A new tannery drives leather industry business booming (+272.7%)

Tunisia recent industrial big success and development also depends on the tanning business. In the first 8 months of the year 2018 domestic industrial investments increased by 3.9% on annual basis: according to data provided by the Ministry of small and medium-sized enterprises, subsequently reported by local press, in the country they managed to create new jobs that reached 2.56 billion dinars (that is, over 610 million euros). Industrial investments in the footwear and leather industry augmented, in the same period, up to +272.7%: such considerable performance was mainly driven by an 18.7 million dinar investment (roughly 5.7 million euros) in a new tannery. The amount is worth 63.9% of the overall budget invested in the industry (29.4 million dinars).
