Vietnam, PrimeAsia renews itself with Italina machinery and improves its production capacity by 50%

The Vietnamese tanning industry expands and, in some measure, involves Italy in the process. On March 8^th, 2019, the PrimeAsia group inauguarated its new production site located in the Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, in the south of the country, where high-end machinery manufactured by Officine di Cartigliano, Erretre, Bauce, Huni e Feltre were installed, with an associated total cost of 40 million USD (around 35.5 million euro). The new machines, as explained by the group’s top management and reported by internationalleathermaker.com, includes lime splitting machines, special re-tanning drums, vacuum dryers and sprying machines, as well as two new warehouses, respectively for wet-blue and chemical. The Ba Ria-Vung Tau isn’t a completely new site, but rather an enlargement of a tannery that was already located there, which thanks to this technological investment (according to leatherbiz.com), will be able to work on 6 million square feet of hides per month, against the previous capacity of 4 million, which the site was able to manage before the upgrade. The outside of the production site has also been involved in the remodeling process thanks to this investment: first, 5.000 square meters of solar panels have been installed on the roof, a number that will allow the site to produce 65% of the energy it needs by itself, and second, a new water treatment system has been introduced.
