Simac Tanning Tech, an “all savings” innovation: less emissions and waste, less costs and environmental impact

Sustainability and waste control are the two main focal points around which revolved the 2019 edition of Simac Tanning Tech, the international fair of machinery and technologies for the footwear, leather goods and tanning industries, that ended yesterday. “The fair had opened with much uncertainty, but it turned out to be an extremely positive edition”, explains Piera Lotti, General Director of Finikem, according to whom this was “one of the best editions of all times”. “The first two days were very intense, maybe more so than the previous year’s edition, and we continued to meet people on the third day”, confirms Mauro Bergozza, General Manager of Bergi. “The theme of savings was the most common one among the people we met – explains the Veneto-based entrepreneuer -. This doesn’t refer to the desire to buy at a reduce price, but rather the lowering of emissionsand the consequent decrease of the environmental impact”. “The market today asks us for substance”, adds Massimo Gotti of SilvaTeam, highlighting how brands want “answers, and technological solutions to tan hides with no chrome and other metals”. “The technology used will be completely different in 5 years”, comments Cesare Dal Monte, managing director of Ger Elettronicaof Montecchio Maggiore (near Vicenza). “When faced with decreasing volumes, businesses look for solutions to reduce their production costs – concludes Mr. Dal Monte -. And this is a positive situation for us, since we have focused our research on the development of innovative processes that control quality along the entire production chain”.
