There is no made-in-Italy without technologies and innovation

“Behind the good looking products of the made-in-Italy chain there are machines bringing innovation and allowing production to be high-quality and forward-thinking”. Maria Vittoria Brustia, president of Assomac, turned the spotlight on the importance of technology. The association, along with some of its represented entities, participated in the e-P Summit 2024 event organized by Pitti Immagine in Florence April 9th and 10th.

Technologies and innovative machinery

“In today’s world, knowing the companies present at the event, we realized that our systems are capable of dialoguing with advanced partners and last-generation technologies”. Brustia spoke during the panel titled Treads of innovation: fashioning industry 4.0 in smart factories”. With her were Cristiano Paccagnella (vice-president of Assomac), Sergio Dulio (president of UITIC), Andrea Favazzi (Technology Department Manager at Assomac), Igino Colella (president of CSCMP). “

Interconnected Industry 4.0

“The investments we have seen in the last few years tells us that machinery needs to be able to dialogue with the plant and themselves. We are talking about Interconnected Industry 4.0”, explains the president of Assomac. “The timeframe for fashion is getting shorter and the margin for error is disappearing. Industry 4.0 can be useful in this sense”, added Colella.

Education and training

Machinery is being built to be user-friendly, but the matter of training and education for personnel remains central, as it’s to be updated when the machinery is updated. “People need to be employed in activities with high-added value , otherwise we should rely on AI – commented Brustia -. In this sense, technological integration is to be thought of as a way to help resources waste less time”.

Investing

“We hope the government continues to think long-term and facilitate investments in innovative machinery”, concluded the president of Assomac. Investing is a requirement if one wants to remain competitive on the global marketplace. “Demand for technological machinery is driven by the international market – stated Paccagnalla, leader of Omac, a leading manufacturer of leather working machines -. Requests of this sort have come to us from foreign groups, and we were ready for them”.
