It’s becoming a habit: another award for Lineapelle + Hyundai

Let’s call it a “bis”, or at least say it’s becoming a habit to win big awards for partners Lineapelle + Hyundai Transys. Their project Shift to Regenerative Mobility, won the Red Dot Design Award in September 2023 and now wins the iF DESIGN AWARD. That means two of the three most important awards in the design world (the third is the IDEA -International Design Excellence Award).

It’s becoming a habit

The reason behind the award iF DESIGN is to be understood in full. “Shift to Regenerative Mobility is the future mobility space that embodies ecofriendly and regenerative values. This project aims at minimizing waste and regenerating tanning waste into new innovative materials. The seat frame model also has been upcycled, bringing back life for this project providing a sustainable approach inside out. It presents a new vision on the future concept seat and multipurpose living space offering unique passenger experience. This concept seat embodies the shared value of sustainability through its use of regenerative materials, and visualizes that value through space with a design concept called Seoul to Milan”.

The Lineapelle + Hyundai Transys project

The project began in March 2020 and lasted two years. To close it, Lineapelle and Hyundai Transys activated a partnership and involved gruppo conciario Dani, Manifattura di Domoddossola, ATKO Planning, Dual and D-House by Dyloan. Specifically: tanned leather is present in the seat sections where more stress is put. The intertwined parts characterize the back of the seat. The waste byproduct is grounded and regenerated. Then, the upcycled material is combined with recycled-PET bottles to create an exclusive material for the floors.
