Lineapelle, next generation fashion: the Schmid and IED competitions for young designers at pavilion 9

Lineapelle for the next generation. The exhibition in Milan confirms its sensitivity towards the future of fashion, design, style and, in this edition too, it hosts two initiatives reserved for young designers seeking an opportunity to grow and enter the fashion industry. There are two displays scheduled during the 3-day exposition, to be set up at the entrance to pavilion 9. The first is organised by Schmid, leading company in the textile industry, which has called on the participation of three excellent international fashion schools: the British London College of Fashion, the Art Future School of Design in St Petersburg and the Accademia del Lusso in Milan. The contestants will exhibit 10 fashion creations made using the classic materials produced by Schmid (satin, netting, lace and glitter) and based on the themes of the latest collection. The winning students will be chosen at Lineapelle and will receive their awards during the event from a dignified jury chaired by Mario Boselli (honorary president of the National Chamber of Italian Fashion) and composed of Gimmi Baldinini (president of the Gimmi Baldinini footwear manufacturing company), Maurizio Pecoraro (designer), Fulvia Bacchi (director general of the National Tanning Industry Union) and Paola Bottelli (journalist specialised in the fashion industry). The outright winner will take home a prize of 2,000 euro and the possibility of a traineeship in the Milan company. The second competition presents the results of a project based on the recovery and creative reuse of leather (waste and second quality pieces) worked on by the students of the Academic Diploma Course in Jewellery and Accessories Design at the IED (European Design Institute).
