TheOneMilano runs after winter all year long, while announcing great news

TheOneMilano cerca l’inverno tutto l’anno (e annuncia grandi news)

TheOneMilano, on its seventh edition, is due to take place at Fieramilano City on February 20-23. The fur products and prêt-à-porter fair is going to host over 300 brands. Around 10,000 buyers will expectedly show up at the exhibition event: 6,000 pre-registrations make organizers rather confident. “It is always winter somewhere”, they claim. TheOneMilano runs after winter throughout the year because “our current society is smaller and more connected”, remarked Elena Salvaneschi, chief executive officer of the event, during the introductory press conference held this morning at Spazio Lineapelle (Lineapelle Space), at Palazzo Gorani (in the picture). Since we may take advantage of a number of opportunities, then, “it is important to work well, focusing on quality”. The fair is striving for that. Meanwhile, they have been announcing great news for September: TheOneMilano is going to come back to Fieramilano Rho and, besides that, will join forces with Micam and Mipel.

The importance of synergy

“Synergy is of paramount importance to us – commented Fulvia Bacchi, general manager of UNIC-Italian Tanneries and Chief Executive Officer of Lineapelle –, and it applies to sustainability, research, innovation and certification. I do believe that the association of tanning companies and the fair organization must actively liaise with their partners, represented by Confindustria Moda, to enhance the leather industry and made in Italy manufacturing”. “The truth is that many people talk about synergies, but we are the only ones who put them into practice effectively – remarked Tommaso Cancellara, Micam managing director –. Our cooperation on fairs and exhibitions, which proves to be valuable to buyers on the lookout for total look, evidences that”.

TheOneMilano runs after winter all year long

“We want to send a message and we want people to hear us out – commented Norberto Albertalli, president of TheOneMilano –. Although our exhibitors look ahead at the future, for the time being they must deal with a rather difficult scenario”. There are various reasons why they are concerned: for example, a mild winter caused sales to slow down. There are additional reasons as well: “the chip issue in Russia, customs duties, which are heavily hindering and hitting international trade, and Brexit – continued Albertalli –. Not to mention, of course, Coronavirus outbreak: China is a relevant market, and economic recovery might require a long time”. Therefore, the February event turns out to be an opportunity to take new incentives and inspiration. “Thanks to the ITA agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – he wrapped up – we are about to host groups of representatives from the USA, Korea, Russia, Japan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan”.

Spaces and projects

TheOneMilano is striving hard to keep up, while reinventing itself, and engage visitors in a brand new way. Star architect Italo Rota and set designer Margherita Palli have turned into physical reality the concept “It is always winter somewhere”. Together with Confartigianato Moda, instead, they have set up some tableau vivant, called “Making of, manufacturing stories”: they are a realistic presentation of fashion jobs (shoemaker, leather goods manufacturer, apparel weaver) to show buyers the roots of made in Italy production.
