Chanel: another former Bottega Veneta talent joins for leather goods

Chanel has appointed a new creative lead for handbags, small leather goods, accessories, and eyewear — an important addition to the team supporting Matthieu Blazy, who has been at the creative helm of the French fashion house for nearly six months. The new designer Blazy has chosen to join him is, like himself, a former Bottega Veneta talent. His name is Krzysztof Lukasik.

Another Bottega Veneta talent

Born in Warsaw, Lukasik (pictured, source: boisbuchet.org) has gained experience working for Hermès, Maison Margiela, Loewe, Diesel, Lanvin, Victoria Beckham, and Byredo. He later joined Bottega Veneta, where for five years he held the same role he now takes on at Chanel. At the Kering-owned brand, he worked closely with Matthieu Blazy, who is now the lead designer at Chanel.

Minimalist aesthetic

According to Fashion United, Lukasik announced his new role — which he has held since May — on LinkedIn. He also serves as a creative consultant for brands such as Wales Bonner, Moschino, and Trussardi. Additionally, he is a Visiting Teacher at the Fashion Department of HEAD – Genève (Haute École d’Art et de Design). According to the Polish platform whitemad.pl, Lukasik favours a minimalist aesthetic and is known for his attention to detail and his ability to reinterpret classic shapes in a fresh and innovative way.
