Love/Hate: Dapper Dan signs Gucci Man’s capsule collection

Last May the duo by Michele-Bizzarri presented in its cruise collection a fur coat jacket with wide puffed sleeves. Dapper Dan, a designer of the 1980s and early 1990s, said that he was too similar to a dressmaker he signed in 1989 (in the photo, the comparison models), sparking a social controversy that came to the press industry. By Gucci, however, they transformed the event on a collaborative occasion. Dapper Dan will design a men’s capsule collection for sale in all the boutiques of the brand from next spring, while Gucci is also committed to reopening the Harlem store that the New York Fashion Designer closed in 1992. Alessandro Michele – reports the New York Times – always defended by saying that his was a tribute to Dapper Dan and not plagiarism.
