Adapta launches circular brand Itera with the leftover stock from luxury brands

Adapta launches circular brand Itera. The French startup selling stock from luxury brands and tanneries, has added a new division to its business, after five years of activity. Itera’s products are made with unsold leather.

The project’s origin

After 10 years working with large luxury brands (Hermès, Chanel, Céline), Virginie Ducatillon created an enterprise to connect stylists and other entities with unsold leather. Specifically, those that struggle to reach these luxury materials for their creations. Adapta was created in September 2018, and in these five years the company has been able to stop 20 tons of leather from going to landfills: that equals to 760,000 liters of water and the equivalent of 63 tons of CO2.

Now Adapta launches circular brand Itera

“When we are unable to connect demand and supply, some leather goes to waste”, explains to Fashion Network Virginie Ducatillon. That’s why the entrepreneur has now launched Itera, brand that makes small leather goods and company gifts with leather that would otherwise end up in landfills. “We found a new use for the leather, entering the company-gift-market”. The first collection is made of 4 unisex items, all customizable with logos, initials, or other messages. Adapta entrusted production to partnered labs located in France, Spain and Portugal.
