Claudia Sequi is the new president of Assopellettieri. She is taking her place after Fabio Gabbrielli and will remain in charge for the 23/24 period. The 55-years-old entrepreneur from Florence is also the VP of Pelletterie Claudia (brand Claudia Firenze) based in Pontassieve.

Crucial moment

Sequi nominated 4 VPs: Stefania Orselli of Gucci, Stefano Giacomelli of Tivoli Group, Riccardo Braccialini of Pelletteria Fiorentina Montecristo and Carlo Briccola of Bric’s Valigeria Fine. In addition, data regarding the results of Italy’s leather goods segment was published, highlighting an increase in export, but lower production. A decrease that continued in April and May as well. “We are in a crucial moment for our companies. I feel a very strong responsibility to continue on the path and projects launched by Gabbrielli”, she added.

Assopellettieri’s new president

Claudia Sequi (in photo) is the first female president of Assopellettieri. The election took place just days ago during the Assembly organized by the association (which is part of Confindustria Moda). The Tuscan entrepreneur presented her program’s highlights, saying that the mandate will be in continuity to the actions taken by the previous president, Franco Gabbrielli. Specifically: re-launching Mipel, developing Mipel Lab and Stati Generali della Pelletteria Italiana. “I believe the concept of teamwork will be very important. The context we are in isn’t an ideal one, but by working all together we can try to face adversity”.

First quarter

During Assopellettieri’s assembly, the association published data relating to the 1st quarter of 2023. Export amounted to 3 billion euro, up 12.6% on the same period of 2022. The trade balance remains active at 2.1 billion euro: +18.6% on 2022. What is concerning is data for industrial production: -2.3% in the first 3 months of the year and also down in April and May. Another shadow is cast by the “less successful” collection of orders and the “cautious sentiment of entrepreneurs”.
