Louis Vuitton’s new site in Girona is ready, along with the new contract

Louis Vuitton increased its production capacity in Spain. The luxury brand has completed works on the new leather goods’ production site of Girona. The new manufacturing point extends 8,000 square meters (from the 3,000 of the old ones). Via company Manufacture de Maroquinerie et Accessoires Louis Vuitton, led by Armel Schwerer, LV controls five production sites in Spain. Three in Barberà del Vallés (Barcelona), this one in Girona and one in Santa Perètua de Mogoda (Barcelona). In total, the French company employs 1,600 people, 1,100 of which will benefit from a new labor contract.

Growing in Spain

LVMH’s admiral brand increases the production capacity of handbags in Spain. In Girona, all production phases, from cutting leather to final preparations, will take place, says Modaes. The French brand had conducted a similar operation in 2020 on the 8,000 square meters site of Santa Perpètua, where it had moved activities previously done in a smaller site in Polinyà.

Employment

LVMH’s manufacturing activity in Cataluña is worth about 240 million euro a year. About 1,100 employees will be impacted by the new labor contract signed by the brand with unions. The pre-agreement includes the updating of professional categories for workers, responding to an historical complaint of local personal. This will mean an increase in salary.
