Maroquinerie Thomas to open two leather goods factories: first in Arras, then a new plant in Mâcon, hiring 200 employees

First a new factory in Arras, then one in Mâcon as well. Maroquinerie Thomas, a French leather goods group specialized in high-end outsourcing, keep expanding their business. After announcing the opening of a new production site, based in the Northern small town of Arras, they are now going to open a new factory in Mâcon, situated in the French region of Burgundy. As reported by several local information portals, the leather goods giant, which supplies a number of luxury top groups, is due to open, close to Lyons, a new production site. It will extend across around 1,000 square metres, and will employ about one hundred workers: yet, the aim of the company is to enlarge it, up to 3,000 square metres, therefore hiring 200 employees. As reported by macon-infos.com, Maroquinerie Thomas will supposedly start up over there in September to carry out various activities, including internal training as well. Apparently, they decided to open their production plant in Mâcon after a few persuasive talks with Jean-Patrick Courtois, the mayor of the municipality of Mâcon and president of the regional council, following the company announcement, last October, about their investment plans in Arras. “The company I am in touch with – pointed out Courtois six months ago while speaking to Le Journal de Saone-et-Loire – will start working here in two years at least”. Looks like they advanced such decision instead.
