More handbags in Burberry’s future. “Leather goods offer us an “amazing opportunity”, says Burberry’s Ceo Marco Gobbetti

Marco Gobbetti, Ceo of Burberry, announced during its brand’s fashion show, that an intensification in production (as well as various additions to the collection), is on the way for small handbags: “We have consolidated our product offering, regarding accessories; but right now, we have a great opportunity in an area that offers significant development for us”. Leather-related revenue from Burberry’s previous fiscal year was of 1 billion British pounds, equal to 38% of total revenue. To add reinforcements to the division in question, Gobbetti has recently brought two ‘ex-colleagues’ of his to Burberry. Both were working for Céline (where he was previously employed until this past July): Judy Collinson (Merchandising chief) and stylist Sabrina Bonesi.
