USA-China, progress in the negotiations. The market catches its breath: Trump further delays the placement of duties

Considering the “substantial progress” made during recent negotiations, the application of the duties that was “planned for March 1st”, has been postponed. The two administrations of the competing parties are already working to set up a new meeting in Mar-a-Lago, with the hopes to reach a final agreement that puts the trade war between USA and China to rest. And so, Mr. Donald Trump, president of the United States, explains via Twitter that the result of the negotiation, which just took place in Washington with Xi Jinping, president of China, was positive. This trade war has been characterized by moments of fire and ice, during the second half of 2018. A conflict that has hit the leather industry hard, involving both raw material and finished products with duties and counter-duties, and hitting the equilibrium of the leather industry around the world. Only a week ago, within the pavilions of Lineapelle96, Italian entrepreneurs were stating that a normalization of relations between USA and China is the key to a more profitable 2019.
