Time to close the door for JBS Australia: 40 employees already fired, and 195 in danger of losing their job. The fault lies with irregular supplies

The temporary closing which started in March, has become permanent six months later. JBS Australia fired 40 employees from the Longford production site, in the state of Tasmania. According to local news sources, following this action, may be the closing of another site, in Cobram, where 195 employees work, but that has been temporarily closed in April. The two sited are dedicated to the production of sheep and muttons. Sources from JBS Australia has said, in the past, that the suspension of regular activities was due to the irregularity of supplies: low volumes at an irregular rhythm. Globalmeatnews now reports that the Oceania division of JBS didn’t take the news regarding the suspension “lightly, but that things haven’t gotten better”. This matter comes at a challenging time, as JBS Brazil (HQ), is working on handling the recent legal problems of the Batista brothers, as well as the in-fighting with minority shareholder BNDES.
