“We do not like such duty”: Turkey to hear out EU on wet-blue export stop

One of the members of the Customs Union carries out protectionism policies: it doesn’t make sense, does it? Turkey will hear out the European Commission, as it liaises with national Governments which are involved in the situation. Wet-blue leather export stop, approved by Turkish government at the end of August, was not popular at all. Such matter was mostly discussed at MAAC (Market Access Advisory Committee) meeting, on October 20, organized by EC commerce chief board. UNIC (the National Association of Italian Tanneries) took part in it, along with Cotance (the union of tanning national associations). Tanneries’ claims were backed up by Italy, as well as Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Bulgaria representatives.
