Excellence in training 2025: two awards for Russo di Casandrino

There is a fundamental asset that guarantees a company both a solid present and a credible future: training. It is a strategic asset, as demonstrated by Russo di Casandrino. The Campania-based tannery has long chosen to invest in structured training at various levels within the company, with a particular focus on innovation and sustainability. The results have not been long in coming, as shown by the two awards received in the Excellence in Training 2025 competition, promoted by AIF – Associazione Italiana Formatori.

Excellence in training 2025

On 26 June in Turin, at Palazzo Madama, AIF awarded Russo di Casandrino for its project Technologies for Sustainability, developed in partnership with Virvelle – Società Benefit. Virvelle is a consultancy that offers “integrated services for enhancing human resources and supporting organisational development in companies”. Russo di Casandrino received two prizes. The first concerns Impact Measurability. It was awarded “in the category of Economy, Production Processes and Sustainability for the ability to transform training into concrete, measurable results aligned with corporate sustainability objectives”. The second was awarded by Fondirigenti for the “Best training plan to spread the culture of sustainability through technology”. The reason: “For promoting an innovative training plan designed to spread the culture of sustainability through the adoption of enabling technologies”.

A fundamental business imperative

“For us”, comments Gianni Russo, CEO of Russo di Casandrino, “training is a fundamental business imperative to ensure healthy growth for the company, with a forward-looking and sustainable approach. That’s why we’ve given a wide remit to our Human Resources department to develop projects that enable us to continually improve in this regard”. One of the outcomes of this strategy, explains HR Manager Rossella De Luca, is the choice “to invest each year in training projects that, so far, have involved around 50% of employees”.

Technologies for sustainability

“The project”, explained representatives from Russo di Casandrino, “carried out in 2024, involved key strategic figures from our company in a structured process”. The goals were varied and interconnected. First: “to digitalise production processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness”. Then: “to reduce environmental impact through smart technologies and continuous monitoring”, and “to integrate sustainability and innovation into organisational and decision-making models”. Lastly: “to strengthen the internal green culture, making sustainability a shared value”. The project stood out for its use of active learning methodologies, including blended learning and applied project work. A constant focus was placed on impact measurement, a key element that proved to be a transformative training journey — “capable of embedding a culture of sustainability at all levels of the organisation, including a hands-on circular economy workshop”, concluded representatives from Russo di Casandrino.
