Pittards expands in Ethiopia, as new shoe factory opens in Addis Ababa

Pittards expands its commercial activity in Ethiopia, where they have been running a well-established business turnover, based on one tannery and a network of specialized workshops that focus, most of all, on gloves manufacturing. Earlier in November they inaugurated, in Addis Ababa, a new manufacturing plant, which will attend to make shoes: its 70 employees (in Ethiopia Pittards’s total number of workers will exceed 1,500 units at this point) will also achieve some product lines for Soul of Africa brand (Pittards is their supplier). Soul of Africa is a production project started by one of the Clark’s family heirs (they founded the Clark brand in Great Britain): it aims to take advantage of footwear professional training as a potential solution to massive unemployment, which is seriously affecting many countries in Africa. The new shoe factory comes from a partnership deal between Pittards and Soul of Africa, signed in 2016.
