A difficult choice, but one that was inevitable and proper. Lineapelle’s next edition, which was planned for March 23rd and 34th in Fieramilano Rho, has been cancelled. The other Milan-based fashion fairs that were part of the #strongtogether project also cancelled: Micam, Mipel, TheOne, Homi Fashion&Jewels Exhibition.
A difficult choice
The current Ministerial Decree active in Italy has deeply influenced the choice of cancelling the next edition of Lineapelle and other fairs in Milan, all of which would have taken place between March 20th till the 24th. The decree bans all physical fairs until March 5th, 2021 included. “Even if after March 6th organizers are given permission to organize the tradeshows – reads a joint note -, the usual qualitative level and prestigious standing, of the fairs, couldn’t have been maintained”.
And more. “Even more importantly, what couldn’t be guaranteed is the influx of important buyers from all over the world, which is the aspect that has made these fairs the reference events, globally speaking. International restrictions, both health and travel related, wouldn’t allow thousands of visitors the chance to access Fieramilano Rho safely and with no concerns”.
Milan-based fashion fairs have announced that, in order to compensate for the inevitable cancellations, “will remain close to their reference communities”. To do so, they “will launch many digital initiatives over the next few weeks, all with the goal of channeling the investments and efforts of organizers in a positive direction”. Virtual events that “won’t be able to fully replace the live experience”, but that will give exhibitors the chance to digitally present their collections and unquestionable creativity”.
