Leather according to Dice and Burani: double event at Spazio Lineapelle

A double event. While Lineapelle 99 (February 22-24) and the women’s fashion shows of Milan Fashion Week (February 22-28) are underway in Milan, Spazio Lineapelle is once again the stage for the project Questione di Pelle. How? With “an urban fashion show and a video mapping performance on the buildings in the historic centre”. The protagonists, with their leather creations, will be designers Mario Dice and Cristiano Burani.

Double event at Spazio Lineapelle

Questione di Pelle is organised “by UNIC – Italian Tanneries in collaboration with Lineapelle and under the patronage of the Municipality of Milan”. On Wednesday February 23rd, at 10 am, “Mario Dice’s fashion leaves the atelier and the catwalks to take to the streets, mixing with passers-by, in the real world”.

In other words, “the models will catwalk inside a labyrinth of hedges, part of the evocative street furniture of Piazza Gorani”, home of Spazio Lineapelle. “Many leather garments – explains a press note -, for the first time in the designer’s collection, with a seductive and soft vision, typical of his style”. On Saturday, February 26, from 7 to 9 p.m., it will be the turn of Cristiano Burani, for whom leather represents “a cornerstone of his stylistic vision”. His winter 22/23 collection will be the protagonist “inside Spazio Lineapelle and with the projection of a video on the buildings of Piazza Gorani, a celebratory re-editing of the extraordinary leather garment archive of the brand”.

Celebrating leather

“Questione di Pelle celebrates leather. It tells of its beauty and versatility,” comments Fulvia Bacchi, CEO of Lineapelle and General Manager of UNIC, “It demonstrates its ability to arouse emotions, to be transgressive and to be a fundamental material for the world of fashion, luxury and design. This is why we want to support the creativity of those who use leather in their collections in an exemplary manner. Mario Dice and Cristiano Burani are a perfect example of how leather can be feminine, seductive, elegant and adaptable”.

Dice and Burani

“The inspiration for this collection began with a ready-to-wear process that is the child of lockdown,” explains Mario Dice. It was enriched with the introduction of leather garments, thanks to the partnership with UNIC – Italian Tanneries and Lineapelle. “The desire for air, for open spaces, for a new concreteness, led me to decide to leave the catwalk and take the streets.  It doesn’t mean street style, but getting Mario Dice dirty with life”. Cristiano Burani, on the other hand, explains that “for the next FW23 season we decided to talk about our aesthetics and leather in an innovative language”. How? “By creating a fashion movie that talks about Italian style, colour, research, good taste, experimentation and usability. I believe that there is no other material as ductile, sustainable and evergreen as real leather, in which even manufacturing waste can become decorative elements”.
